Effective date: 11 July 2026 Last updated: 11 July 2026

Verified Rishta is a trading name of Verified Match Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales , with its registered office at 220–222 Warwick Road, Sparkhill, Birmingham, B11 2NB.

We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over your data. We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

We have written this policy in plain language and kept legal jargon to a minimum so it is easy to understand.

1. Who we are

Verified Match Ltd (trading as "Verified Rishta", "we", "us" or "our") is the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

This policy applies to all services we offer, including our website, mobile apps, events, and any related services (together, our "Services").

The Verified Rishta mobile application is published and distributed by Al Burraq IT Services Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, which also provides technical development and hosting services for the platform. Al Burraq IT Services Ltd acts as a data processor on behalf of Verified Match Ltd and processes personal data only on our instructions. Verified Match Ltd remains the data controller and is responsible for how your personal data is used.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, you can contact us using the details in the "Contact us" section below.

2. Information we collect

We collect information in the following ways:

Information you give us, including when you:

  • create an account or complete your profile (for example your name, date of birth, gender, contact details, photographs, location, marital status, and details about your background and preferences);
  • subscribe to or purchase paid services;
  • take part in surveys, events, or promotions;
  • contact our customer care team.

Information about your background and community. Because we operate a matrimonial service, some of the information you choose to provide — such as religion, sect, caste, community, or ethnic background — is treated as special category data under the UK GDPR. We only collect and use this information with your explicit consent, which you provide when you supply these details to build your profile. You can withdraw this consent at any time by editing your profile or contacting us.

Information we collect automatically, including your device information, IP address, app and website usage, and interactions with our Services. We collect some of this through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 5).

Information from others, including information other users provide about their interactions with you, and information from partners who help us operate our Services.

3. The lawful bases for processing your data

Under the UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis to process your personal data. We rely on the following:

  • Consent — for special category data (such as religion or community), for marketing communications, and for non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Performance of a contract — to create and administer your account and provide the Services you have signed up for.
  • Legitimate interests — to operate, improve and secure our Services, prevent fraud and misuse, and keep our platform safe, provided this does not override your rights.
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to process data to comply with the law.

4. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • set up and administer your account;
  • help you connect and communicate with other users;
  • provide a consistent experience across your devices;
  • process payments for paid services;
  • show you relevant features, offers and (where you have consented) marketing;
  • improve, personalise and develop our Services;
  • keep our platform safe, detect and prevent fraud, abuse and other harmful activity;
  • comply with our legal obligations and enforce our terms.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to make our Services work, remember your preferences, understand how our Services are used, and measure the effectiveness of our advertising.

You can control non-essential cookies through our cookie settings and your browser settings. Essential cookies, which are needed for the Services to function, cannot be switched off.

6. How we share your information

We share information only where necessary, including with:

  • Other users — the profile information you choose to make visible is shared with other members so you can connect.
  • Service providers — companies that help us run our Services (for example hosting, payment processing, customer support and analytics), who act on our instructions.
  • Partners — who assist us in operating and promoting our Services.
  • Legal and safety — where we are required to disclose information by law, to enforce our terms, protect our rights, or protect the safety of our users.
  • Corporate transactions — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you of any change.
  • With your consent — in any other case where you have agreed.

We do not sell your personal data.

7. International data transfers

Some of our service providers may be based outside the UK. Where we transfer personal data outside the UK, we make sure it is protected by an appropriate safeguard recognised under UK data protection law — such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA), the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or a country the UK Government has deemed to provide adequate protection.

8. How long we keep your information

We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, to provide our Services to you, or to comply with our legal obligations. Where we no longer need your data, we securely delete or anonymise it.

We may retain certain information for longer where needed to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or where required by law.

9. How we protect your information

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. These include encryption, restricted access, and storing sensitive information securely. We regularly review our security practices and act promptly if we suspect a breach.

No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we work continuously to keep your data safe.

10. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten");
  • object to or restrict our processing of your data;
  • withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent;
  • request data portability (a copy of your data in a usable format);
  • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We may ask you to verify your identity before we act on your request. We will respond within one month.

Complaints. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK's supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at www.ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns first, so please do contact us before you approach the ICO.

11. Children's privacy

Our Services are intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 is using our Services, please report it to us and we will take appropriate action.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our Services or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
